Tool tip for SC install

Any of you who haven't yet installed your supercharger, I have a tool tip for you. When you install your supercharger to the manifold, you'll use 4 6mm headed bolts. You can go to home depot and buy the allen sockets with the 3/8" drive, but the head is too short to reach the bolts and the body of the socket is size restricted. Here's my suggestion. Go to K-mart or Wal-mart, buy a complete set of Metric Allen wrenches, with a grinder and a cup of cool water, grind the shortest end of the allen wrench where it looks like the letter "L". This will give you a long shafted 6mm allen wrench. Make sure you only grind a little bit and don't get the tool too hot or else you'll weaken it and it could break!!!! This is not good at all. Take the new ground allen head and gring the tip flat so it looks like the normal allen wrench, install it into a 6mm socket and there you have a tool that is long enough to not interfere with the manifold when you are tightening the bolts or for maintenance. It cost me about 5 buck and ten minutes of time. It worked like a charm and cured my vacuum leak problem. Good luck.

Please note, you don't actually grind the "L" off of the Allen wrench, you just grind/cut it. If you have a cut-off tool with a vise it's probably quicker, cleaner, and eaiser.

Here is another solution:

Go to SEARS and buy a set of Ball-end Allen Wrenches... these will allow you to vary the angle that you install the bolts from, and it can be done quite easily... also, you can still make the modification mentioned above and use the 6mm ratchet to tighten the bolts if the short side of the Allen Wrench is uncomfortable.

Note this, if you use the ball end Allen wrenches sometimes if you go nuts over-tightening the bolt, the ball end WILL snap off, I've had experience with this already. I don't think you want to pull a head because there is a piece of your wrench in your engine. Word to the wise, buy very good tools.
